Is a UAE driving licence valid to drive in Oman while on a visit / business visa?

I am a European expat living in the UAE and I am going next month to Oman on a Business trip. Can a rent a car and drive it with a UAE licence? I am also holding a International licence but this one was issued in spain. Anyone knows?
Thanks

International visitors are allowed to drive on Oman roads, as long as they hold an international driver’s license.

Where a driver’s license is issued is only a matter if you apply for a local license. In this case passport and driver’s license have to be issued from the same country.

In case you would not have an IDP, you could obtain one in the UAE to drive in Oman.

edit@ Tin M: I took it for granted that the asker flies into Oman and wants to rent a car over there
    Otherwise you are right.

Oman police will not give you a problem if you got a UAE license , as a visitor, but AS LONG AS you buy an Oman car insurance policy (liability coverage, for the duration of the visit). You can buy those from some local insurance companies in Dubai , just tell them you want a visitor car insurance policy for Oman. (your existing UAE car insurance does not cover accidents outside UAE territory)

Any GCC driving license is valid in Oman and you dont need to get a International license. Even your international license is valid. You can easily hire a car on either of your licenses
